The 8th China Finance Forum, with the theme "Theory and Practice of Chinese Finance in the New Development Stage," took place at Fudan University on November 5 and 6, 2022. The School of Economics of Fudan University and the Journal of Economic Research jointly sponsored the forum. The discussion was open to more than 160 academics and postdocs from 50 universities and research centers, including Peking University, Fudan University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, and Zhejiang University. Prof. Liu Rong, a member of our faculty, was invited to participate in this forum online. Chen Lingqing, a Ph.D. student, was invited to participate offline and provide a report on the forum's chosen papers.

Four outstanding papers were chosen from more than 260 conference papers by a panel of experts from Peking University, Renmin University of China, Xiamen University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Fudan University, and Wuhan University. The Forum organized four keynote presentations and 26 parallel thematic forums under the banner of Tencent Conference. The paper "From Budget to Tax Reduction Effectiveness: Evidence Based on Dynamic Clustering of Micro and Small Enterprises" by Professor Liu Rong, Ph.D. student Chen Lingqing, Associate Professor Wang Ruiting, and Associate Professor Deng Xinghua, from International Business School, won the second prize for an excellent paper.

The China Finance Forum, co-sponsored by Peking University, Renmin University of China, Xiamen University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Wuhan University, as well as co-sponsored by the Journal of Economic Research, aims to advance academic discussion and collaboration among experts and scholars in the field of fiscal theory and policy in China. Peking University hosted the first "China Finance Forum," followed by Xiamen University for the second, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics for the third, Wuhan University for the fourth, the Renmin University of China for the fifth, Zhejiang University for the sixth, and Shandong University for the seventh. This is the "China Finance Forum's" eighth session. The ninth forum will be held at the Central University of Finance and Economics in 2023.
